In order to balance the story, I met some people from BGL, the insurance business that runs ComparetheMarket.com today. One of them had only been with the company for three weeks, the other for over two years. They were great ambassadors for their brand because they had been introduced to the company’s mission and values on day one and were obviously both passionate about working there. BGL have an active and influential Learning and Development function too! 🙂 Not all news is bad news, fortunately!

Induction is rarely designed or used properly in organisations – large or small, global or not-for-profilt, in UK or abroad.

Seems to me this company had money to burn and an HR team who didn’t care about the value of the induction training, or they wouldn’t have let it happen.

The sad fact is that while this malpractice continues, it casts doubt in the minds of those who hold the budget as to the value of ANY training and that gets us trainers a bad name. 🙁
