My Sunday afternoons are often spent walking in the countryside close to Peterborough with a group of friends. I joined ‘The Actives’ eleven years ago, and I’m the youngest member of the group. I really value their friendship although we all disagree on many important topics.

A Sunday afternoon walk gives me the opportunity to clear my mind and enjoy the wonderful English countryside. We  stop off at a pub or coffee shop part way through the walk and I am usually home by 4.30 p.m. refreshed and ready for another week.

Today we went to Maxey Lakes, twenty minutes drive from Peterborough. The photograph above is not of Maxey Lakes, but it does conjure up the idea of the winter landscape a little. It was a warm day today for mid-January and there are already signs of new growth in nature for 2011.
